Every once in a while, someone who spends most of their time behind the scenes gets pulled into the spotlight. In this case, that someone is our own Operations Manager, Karen Hilts, featured on the cover of the 2026 Fairport & Perinton Community Guide.
If you have spent any time at the Perinton Food Shelf, you already know Karen. She is the one making sure the shelves are stocked, the deliveries are handled, the volunteers know where to go, and the neighbors who walk through our doors are met with warmth and dignity. She is, quite honestly, never resting. Ask anyone here and they will tell you the same thing: Karen finds a way. Every day, in every way she can.
That kind of work does not usually make headlines. Seeing Karen on a magazine cover feels right, because the steady, unglamorous work is exactly what keeps this place going.
